Walking in the Rain

They walked beside each other while gentle raindrops fell on their respective umbrellas.

“I don’t know why you love walking in the rain,” said the one in brown, their scarf wound tightly around their neck. “There are puddles everywhere, you get wet no matter what you do, and everyone just seems angrier than usual.”

The other stopped walking, making their companion pause too. The one in red looked in all directions before facing the one in brown. “It’s the only time the park lane is empty,” they said, with a small smile playing on their lips. “The only time I can walk here alone with you.”

The two held hands and kissed gently under the dark, rainy sky. They then resumed their walk, the pitter-patter of drops steadily falling around them.
