To Fly

She stared down the cliffside. It was a long drop to the waters below.

“You know what you have to do, right?”

She turned to face him, her gossamer gown rustling at her movements. Tears streamed down her face as she slowly nodded.

He wiped her tears away and held her close. “You’ll be okay. I believe in you.” He kissed her forehead and gently made her face the sea.

“What do you want most in the world?” He whispered, guiding her to the precipice.

She looked back at him and gave him a soft smile. “To fly.”

“Then go, fly.”

And with that, he pushed her off the edge.
