An Answer

He smiled at her as he wrapped his arms around her. “It’s nice being with you like this. I wish you’d let me be your boyfriend already. Just give me an answer, yeah?”

She grinned mischievously at him, then lay her head on his shoulder. After a pause, she quietly said, “Oo.”

He turned to look at her, not comprehending at first. It then hit him, and he held her tightly. She laughed, and he laughed with her as they enjoyed the moment and the promise of togetherness.
