The View

I parked the car by the side of the road and got out. It was a nice view, and I just needed some time to take it all in.
It had been a while since I last passed here, and I’d forgotten how majestic the scenery was. There was just something nostalgic and humbling about the rush of the river, the woody tones of the land, and the imposing mountains standing tall in the background.
I took out a piece of crumpled paper from my pocket and smoothed it out to read words I’d memorized by heart now. I sighed. What a reason to come back to this spot, to come back home.
I dusted myself off and got back into the car. Longingly, I looked back at the view one final time, and drove off.
